Known to be an avid gambler and frequent philanderer, Esmond Elessar was born into a life of privilege. As a son of House Elessar of Llael, Esmond grew up among the politics and intrigue that pervaded the nation before its occupation by the Khadoran Empire. At the time, the Elessar household was one of wealth and fame, one which afforded Esmond a lavish lifestyle. It was not until recently that the invasion of Llael changed the landscape of power among all the nobles’ houses. Amidst the turmoil caused by Khadoran forces, House Elessar was ransacked and robbed of its wealth. Since then, Elessar nobles have all but been stripped of power.
Fortunately for Esmond, he was not present in Llael at the time of the invasion. At a young age, he developed a gift for the arcane arts. Recognizing this, Esmond’s parents sent the young boy to study alongside a famed wizard in Cygnar. While he was certainly talented, Esmond never cared much for his studies. Instead, he spent the majority of his time gambling and drinking his family’s money away; his gifts were wasted on performing petty parlor tricks to amuse barmaids. Spiraling further and further into debt, Esmond’s frivolous lifestyle eventually caught up with him. In trouble with a local loan shark, Esmond became a wanted man on the run. His only escape now is an offer extended to him by House Daria, one which he cannot afford to refuse: A marriage to Alayna Daria. In exchange for the prestige of the Elessar name, he would receive military and monetary resources from Daria to help his family reclaim its rightful place in Llael.
